VISITOR COMMENTS:

We have asked our visitors to write about their experiences, draw or paint a picture or compose a poem and tell us all about it. Below there follows a selection of these:- (unfortunately I can’t show you some of the fantastic drawings here that our visitors have done -you’ll just have to come and look at them for yourself!)

A fairy tale cottage we have found

In the middle of nowhere; no traffic, not a sound.

The garden lovely, relaxing and quiet outside

So big in fact that a cat in it could hide (or three!)

It’s been windy and raining at times its true,

But for our trips out it’s been beautiful and sunny believe us do!

And to name but a few;

Llangrannog

Cardigan Bay

And the beautiful Welsh Botanical Gardens too!

Enjoyed ourselves so much we’d like to return,

Visiting even more places and about them learn.

A big THANK YOU to Sally and Nick we’d like to impart,

You made us feel so welcome,

Right from the start.

We had such a lovely time here. It was the best honeymoon we have ever been on! Everything was fantastic. We couldn’t have asked for better hosts, better weather, better scenery, better bed, better cottage.

Diolch yn fawr am pob peth.

Thank you so much

An amazingly relaxing long weekend. The romantic garden cottage far exceeded all expectations. The weather was superb so we were able to take full advantage of the beautiful surroundings. Things we would recommend:-

No.1                The coastal walk from your front door to New Quay. A 12 mile round trip with stunning views all the way- break up with a dip in the sea at one of the secluded coves.

No.2                Sunset meal at The Ship in Tresaith.

No.3                Spending time in the garden. We really enjoyed eating all meals outside in the beautiful garden, especially a barbecue on our first evening.

Many thanks Nick and Sally for making the stay as relaxing, easy and enjoyable as possible.

                                                            Kate & Al

A landscape where the past is everywhere

Ruins of abbeys, castles and rocks

Megalithic monuments built when the earth was young

And in the west always the ocean where from

Sailors started for the paradise islands

It’s all just here to be discovered.

It was a lovely week in this cosy little cottage where we felt at home. Thanks Sally and Nick to let us share this small paradise on earth.

First time in Wales has been a fantastic experience. The weather was absoloutely terrific! So great for walking, lingering in the beautiful garden and even for swimming in the sea. The red kite was, as promised, in the sky above the garden as were many other birds….

On the coast path we saw a seal taking a sunbath and at Llangrannog we were luck to see a small group of dolphins feeding and playing close to shore!! Our stay was much too short to enjoy everything there is in this area, so we hope to come back here soon.

Thank you Sally and Nick for making us feel at home here in this wonderful cottage!

                                                            Olav & Rosemaryn, The Netherlands

We have had a wonderful week here, breakfast with the buzzard……..That magical moment on our first visit to the cliff tops to see the dolphins-oh + just one very cute  seal. Then to go back to the same area the next day and see them again-words cannot describe.

A week is not long enough, St Davids, Botanical Gradens, Aberglasney, a fascinating woollen mill & water mill, NT at Llanerchaeron and some lovely walks…We will be back.

                                                            Sally & Vic

We were blessed with glorious sunshine and hot weather! The beaches were magnificent and we enjoyed swimming in bracing conditions on one occasion and very refreshing calm conditions the rest of the time. The beaches and walks were wonderfully uncrowded, parking was relatively easy and inexpensive or free.

The local is well worth the walk for an evening drink. Beautiful forest walk to enjoy!

We found our hosts Sally and Nick just perfect; friendly, generous and delightful although chats were brief. They have provided a wonderful”home from home” cottage with every need being addressed in comfort and appliances. Lovely peaceful garden. A superb relaxing retreat!!

                                                Doug and Sue

A real “home from home”-away from it all.

It’s a lovely, well equipped cottage with a pretty, relaxing garden. Weather was mixed but we managed to take advantage of the hammock and enjoyed a BBQ on the patio. Billy (baby) liked the fountain and seemed to enjoy his holiday.

Beaches were lovely we managed to have a swim and we saw a seal at Cwmtydu and a dolphin, whilst eating dinner at The Ship Inn in Tresaith…..

Despite our best efforts we never found any Welsh cakes as good as Sally’s!

Thank you for a great stay

                                                Jane, Paul and Billy

Thank you Sally and Nick for making the cottage such a charming retreat…we had a wonderful stay. We too would recommend the walk to New Quay and a couple of trips to the Crown. However, don’t feel guilty if you do spend your days just enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the cottage and garden.

This cottage” does exactly what it says on the tin” !!  It is indeed a relaxing and picturesque retreat. As well as the walks, already recommended by others, I also hired a bike and cycled the area (from Rod and Wheels in New Quay, £14 for nearly 2 days). Bike routes are clearly signed or DIY using cottage maps.

Apart from our one big day out to the Tal y Llyn railway we spent most of our time around here enjoying the tranquil setting.

So to sum up (in no particular order)

-Walks                         Great coastal walks

-Cycling                       A bit hilly but definitely worth it

-Nant Gwernol             The beautiful TR railway terminal high up in the Snowdonian mountains

-The garden                  A lovely relaxing haven at the cottage

-Llangrannog                A pretty coastal village

Finally thanks to Nick and Sally for your welcome and hospitality

                                                Mike & Pam

There was a young couple from t’ Yorkshire Dales,

Who, tired of wind, rain and gales,

Said “we know a trick,

Let’s email Sally and Nick,

And pack up our cases for Wales!”

After a mighty long roam,

They got to their holiday home.

They explored sea and land,

The weather was grand,

But the week went too fast-

                        Boo, hiss, groan !!!

Our top 5 things to do:-

1)      Walk the coastal path round Strumble Head

2)      Go to the beach at Cei Bach

3)      Lie in the hammock with a good book and a glass of wine

4)      Fish for mackerel off Cwmtydu

5)      Have the scallops at the Pentre Arms, Llangrannog

The test of a good holiday, is whether you’re ready to face the world again at the end of it and although we could easily stay another week, we will eventually have to return to the “big smoke” that is London. But thanks to this wonderful cottage: Sally and Nick’s hospitality (not to mention the delicious cakes and jam!); good exercise; good food; spectacular scenery and an overload of fresh air, we’re going to be able to cope much better with reality! We’ll definitely be back….Wales has gotten under our skin… it reminds us so much of South Africa and we feel at home here. Thanks for letting us in on your secret…places like this do exist!!

                                                            Shannon & Hadley

Thank you for helping us to have a lovely week in Wales. We have had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Our top moments were watching seals, dolphins and harbour porpoise from Ynys Lochtyn through our newly purchased binoculars-a necessity!

Walks along the coastal path are spectacular whatever the weather….

Thanks again- hopefully we will return to this area as there is much more to see.

We were looking for a peaceful break and our stay at Heddfan Garden Cottage proved perfect. This is a beautiful and unspoilt area with plenty of places to delight and surprise-on the cliff tops, on the Teifi marshes and in the garden here of course.

We plan to come back.

                                                            Margaret & Bob

Dear Sally and Nick,

Your cottage is absolutely beautiful; we feel very lucky to have stayed in it.

Thank you so much for making us feel welcome. Above all thank you for taking the time to talk to us. Your “little goodies” were really appreciated, and so was your company on Wednesday evening.

We will never forget the divine “cathedral” lights viewed from the cottage…..They made us dream…..

Arddechog! Diolch yn fawr.       Paul, Sarah and Sam

We've had a really lovely week and can't believe the sun came out every day! Very relaxing and peaceful, the cottage has been a delight to stay in - we will be recommending it to everyone. Our highlights of the week have been:-

1. Visiting Mwnt and having a picnic on the hill whilst spotting dolphins

2. The walk from Llangrannog to the island of bouncy grass (Ynys Lochtyn) follow the path from the Patio cafe.

3. Sampling (almost) every flavour of honey ice cream at Aberaeron (by the Quay)

4. Being able to use the hammock in the early evening sunshine with a cold beer!

Thanks Nick and Sally - we're very sorry to have to go home now!

Louise and Tom

We came back to another warm welcome from Nick and Sally, this time in Spring. The flowering gorse and blackthorn all along the coast is a wonderful sight, especially against the deep blue sky. The woods, particularly those behind St Tysilios church are carpeted with wood anenomes and everywhere there is birdsong. The kites can again be seen gliding overhead and the ducks are a delight to watch flying around the houses at great speed and then "crash landing" just beyond the cottage garden. We heard the woodpecker but didn't see it.

We have found plenty of new walks locally and saw seals and a variety of sea birds at Bird Rock near New Quay.....This is such a nice place that we are sure that we will be back again. The peace and the beautiful surroundings ensure that the cottage is an ideal place for a break away from work!

Margaret and Bob

When the weather is wet and windy you need a warm and comfortable place to come back to and we certainly had that.... This area was new to us and it is so beautiful. So many bluebells and the wild flowers along the banks are a joy....

Thank you for such a relaxing haven from which to enjoy a lovely area of Wales.

Chris and Nigel

Thank you Nick and Sally for a wonderful holiday. Even the weather co-operated as you had ordered!

This delightful cottage and garden is everything you described and much, much more.

We enjoyed a quiet restful time with good quality food and service at the Ship, the Crown and the Patio cafe in Llangrannog. Short trips to St. Davids, into the hills and to Llanarchaeron (N.T) and hardly any traffic too. A five car traffic jam in Aberaeron was a real pain.

A holiday which really exceeded our expectations and we much appreciated your welcome and hospitality in this super location. We do hope to be back.

Mike and Sally

As you know we have been visiting this area for the last 18 years! But we rate your welcome cottage gardens the Best by Far!

Dot and Norman

Oh to be back again! It felt like returning home......We have had a wonderful week again. Within the first couple of hours our first meeting with a seal. Red kites by first breakfast and dolphins in abundance on each day we went looking, Mwnt being the best place for our sightings.

Our thanks to Sally and Nick (oh and Zoe! the cat) for their true genuine hospitality. We will be seeing you again...

Sally and Vic

A truly magical week! We loved everything about it -first of all the wonderful cottage and truly beautiful garden, and then the absolutely stunning beauty of the surroundings, particularly the coastline. On the walk to New Quay we encountered WILD HORSES, PEREGRINE FALCONS, KESTRELS & SEALS basking in the sun; the boat trip from New Quay showed us DOLPHINS, SEALS, GUILLEMOTS & CORMORANTS; and the walk from Cei Bach to Aberaeron had absolutely stunning views in store, with Aberaeron a beautiful town built in the Regency style!

Thank you Sally and Nick for suggesting those wonderful walks, we will certainly be back for another week of magic!

Vince and Christina (Germany)

Being deprived of the seaside as we are in Birmingham, we couldn't help being dragged to the coast every day:- watching dolphins from the harbour wall at New Quay; finding a seal and its pup in a cove just north of Cwmtydu; being buffeted by waves on the little gem of a beach that is Mwnt; sitting under the dark craggy cliffs on an ominous night in Llangrannog; clambering over the rock pools at Aberporth and watching the sun set from the Ship at Tresaith. All of these experiences so different in feeling and charcter and all set in the warm embrace of Cardigan Bay.

And to top it all off, what a fabulous cottage to return to, a genuine home from home....It's been a fabulous holiday and just what we needed to blow away the city fumes for another year.

We came worn out from work, slept alot, revisted some old haunts, enjoyed some very good food locally, walked a fair bit - collecting wild fruits for Susan's jam making back home - where we return refreshed and very very relaxed!
